I love to see the beautiful ways people come up to help each other in difficult times. The last couple of weeks have been nothing short of surreal. We are all trying our best to do what is necessary to contain the spread of COVID-19. My husband turned 50 last Saturday, and we celebrated just the four of us. The big party that I had planned for him will have to wait while we do social distancing. Our routine hasn’t changed much since my husband already worked from the home office. Our cousin Megan, who has been staying with us also works remotely, and most of my work is done at home as well.
As a portrait photographer, my work has come to a halt, as we need to stay home to stop the pandemic. I’m missing my family, my friends, and the human touch. I'm missing photographing people. It makes me so happy to have found out about this project.
Photographer Cara Soulia and her friend Kristen Collins launched The Front Steps Project in Massachusetts, traveling from home to home to photograph families on their front steps. It’s a fantastic way to document this quarantine, and hopefully, we’ll be able to look back at this sometime from now, and have only good memories of the time spent together. Let’s book a time for you to step outside for a family portrait.
I’ll stay far away and photograph your family from the sidewalk, the other side of the street or from inside my car if I have to. It will be quick... no need to dress nicely if you don’t want. You can just come out in PJ’s if that’s how your quarantine is happening. No judgment... we're all on the same boat, right?
What we ask in return, it’s a donation to help those in need. A minimum $20 donation is suggested, benefiting either the Burlington Food Bank or the Compassion Society. Please send a screenshot of your donation when booking your time slot (to help keep track of how much is raised).

Thanks to everyone who participated and donated to the Burlington Food Bank and the Compassion Society. I’ll suspend the project, for now, to take care of myself and my family.
