Shopping for a Cause at The Invidiata in downtown Oakville
Last week I was part of a beautiful event at the Invidiata office in downtown Oakville. Jewelry designer Luma Qusus Awad and Free-Them founder Shae Invidiata did some magic and pulled this event together in record time.
It was an evening to sip, socialize and shop local while supporting local artisans and business owners while giving back to our community through Free-Them, the not-for-profit organization fighting human trafficking in Canada. It might come as a surprise to many people (as it was to me), that even though we live in the best city in the best country, human trafficking is happening right in our backyard.
Human trafficking survivor, author, speaker, and social advocate Timea Nagy-Payne was there with her memoir Out of the Shadows. Timea has teamed up with Shea to combat human trafficking in Canada.
Thank you to all our guests who managed to come and make this event a great success.
Stay tuned for more events in 2020!
